Intercultural Communication

Assignment

 

Each student in class will choose a country other than the United States for the development of a dossier of information for the traveler in that culture, with special attention given to human interaction.  These will be combined and copied for each student so that they will receive a travel packet containing each country’s dossier.

 

Content

 

Include information that would be beneficial to a traveler-tourist in that country.

 

Basic information.  Include basic information on financial currency, address and location of the embassy in the U.S., where you get a Visa approved for travel, typical foods of the country, the flag, names of government leaders (such as the president and ambassador to the US).

 

Detailed information.  Include information that is more focused on human interaction in that country.  Examples include what the language is called, samples of greetings and requests in their language, non-verbal cues and gestures, examination of space (territoriality and proximity) in communication, belief systems, and core values. 

 

Format

 

The document should be professional quality, typed, single-spaced, headers for main ideas, stapled, and include page numbers.
