Text Chapter Summary Presentations Monterey Peninsula College Intercultural Communication (Spch 4) Professor: Daniel S. Fox, Ph.D.
Objective This assignment entails: (1) creating a written summary of the core concepts and principles in one chapter of the text, and (2) developing a creative presentation of selected core ideas.
Purposes: To (a) give class colleagues a full exposure to the material within the text, (b) allow members to experience team-tasking and diversity in close interpersonal interaction with other students, and (c) provide an opportunity for learners to apply critical skills and creative solutions to the presentation of course content.
Format of written portion: The written summary should consist of 1-3 pages (single-spaced). A copy of the summary should be provided for each member of the class at the end of the oral presentation.
Your challenge: To develop a presentation of core concepts in the chapter(s) that engages audience members through multiple modes of experience. It will be your group’s decision as to what core concepts to focus upon, as well as the entire method of communicating those to your colleagues. Give everyone an “In-A-Nutshell” summary at the end. Students should be able to recall and summarize what those core concepts/ideas are after the presentation is complete.
Format for presentation: The oral group presentation should be between 20 - 30 minutes in length. |
